Top 5 Things to Consider When Buying Glass Wall Art in the UK
Homeowners and interior stylists use glass wall art to bring modern elegance and visual depth into their spaces. The piece stands out for its sleekness and reflectiveness while its bold design ensures it captures attention when selected appropriately. With numerous choices available in the UK market, determining which option is best becomes a challenge.
At Artronauts, we see purchasing glass wall art as an experience beyond a simple transaction. This guide outlines five essential considerations to keep in mind before making your purchase. Your next artwork should be both stunning and ideal for your lifestyle and space.
1. Size and Scale: Matching the Art to Your Space
Getting proportion correct should be your first priority. Glass wall art needs to be the correct size for its space because it can appear insignificant when too small or overpowering when too large for the wall where it hangs.
Here’s how to find the right balance:
-
Determine the dimensions of the wall section where the artwork will be mounted, with particular attention to walls above furniture such as sofas and sideboards.
-
The proper artwork size for above furniture should cover two-thirds to three-fourths of the furniture's width.
-
Vertical narrow pieces are ideal for small spaces or hallways, as they create height and elegance without causing overcrowding.
-
Triptych or diptych sets bring balance and rhythm to open-plan or spacious rooms by covering extensive visual areas.
With its broad range of dimensions, Artronauts provides suitable artwork options for both compact reading corners and expansive lounge walls.
2. Lighting & Reflection: Use Natural Light to Your Advantage
No other material matches glass’s ability to reflect and intensify light, which serves as its special power. This glass property serves as a valuable asset or missed chance based on the artwork's placement.
-
Position your artwork opposite a window or next to a light source to maximize natural lighting effects.
-
A high-gloss tempered finish gives our glass art the ability to reflect ambient light and create a lively shimmer effect in your environment.
-
To enhance the visual impact of your glass piece in a dim room, pair it with spotlights or wall-mounted lighting options.
Strategic placement of Artronauts glass artwork enhances room brightness while creating an expanded sense of space.
3. Style & Colour: Complementing or Contrasting with Your Interior
Style is subjective — but harmony is essential. Your glass wall art needs to integrate naturally with its surroundings, whether it merges with the environment or stands out as a focal point.
Here’s what to consider:
-
Minimal and contemporary homes benefit from the aesthetic of abstract and modern pieces. The top-performing collections showcase sharp lines and striking contrasts, which match modern UK interior designs.
-
Neutral and monochrome pieces enhance the aesthetics of Scandinavian and industrial design styles.
-
The soft-flowing designs of grey, taupe, and blush hues create perfect decor for tranquil spaces such as bedrooms or reading rooms.
Not sure which to choose? Try this:
-
Choose understated glass art when your interior already features abundant colours and elaborate details.
-
Bold shapes or colour bursts should serve as the focal point in spaces with minimal design.
Artronauts designs each piece to complement your interior while maintaining versatile adaptability.
4. Material & Build Quality: Why Tempered Glass is Non-Negotiable
Art investment demands high quality because glass artwork requires superior standards. The appeal of glass wall art extends beyond visual beauty because it encompasses additional important factors. The glass art must demonstrate safety, durable performance, and perfect finishing quality.
Artronauts selects tempered safety glass as the sole material for its products because of its:
-
Durability: Tempered safety glass provides five times more strength than standard glass, which ensures it remains safe in busy households and areas with high foot traffic.
-
Scratch resistance: The surface of our artwork remains pristine throughout the years despite daily wear.
-
Polished edges: Artisans hand-finish each item, which ensures smooth edges along with a superior tactile experience.
We create limited edition artwork so that your purchase becomes a one-of-a-kind piece that stands out in your home. This is a piece you will want to own rather than simply display.
5. Mounting and Practicality: How Easy is it to Hang?
Let’s face it: A piece’s beauty becomes frustrating when it proves difficult to hang and lacks proper hanging hardware. Each Artronauts glass art piece comes with:
-
The included hanging kit installs simply and securely to give artwork a neat floating appearance.
-
The installation process requires only basic instructions with no need for complex setups or special tools.
-
The optimized backing system ensures our structure remains stable while maintaining a lightweight design.
You will be able to hang the piece quickly and safely without any issues while ensuring it will maintain its position.
Bonus tip: Make sure to verify what material your wall is made of (plaster, brick, etc.), and use appropriate anchors if necessary. Safety requires two people to install larger pieces.
Final Thoughts
Selecting glass wall art requires more than just coordinating it with your sofa or wall colour. The goal is to select wall art that serves as a visual statement matching your personal style while fitting your space and providing long-term appeal.
Artronauts specializes in creating hand-finished, superior quality tempered glass artwork that excels in aesthetic design and material excellence. These five considerations will help you achieve a perfect fit for your next decorative piece, whether you're starting your home decoration journey or upgrading a curated space.
